FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) – Christian hip-hop artists KB and Trip Lee are bringing their award-winning, chart-topping music to Frankfort for one night.
The Reach Record recording artists will present a free concert on Saturday, Oct. 28. at Buck Run Baptist Church.
Tampa native KB, born in St. Petersburg, Fla., as Kevin Burgess, released his third album, Today We Rebel, in 2017. Three years ago, KB took home the Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year and his LP in 2015 debuted on the Billboard charts as the No. 1 Christian Album and the No. 4 Rap Album overall.
KB said as a child the “went from the suburbs to the hood” after his parents divorced, it was Christian rap that provided him answers and led to accepting Christ as his Savior.
Trip Lee, of Dallas, Texas, recently released his sixth album, The Waiting Room, in which the artist wrestles with joy and pain, life and death, and “the realities of our current social and political climate.”
“This earth is a place where all of our longings just won’t come true,” said Lee. “We’re always waiting for things to be made right.”
Among Lee’s long list of chart-topping albums, he received two Dove nominations and a Stellar Award for Best Gospel Rap/Hip Hop Album of the year.
Lee, who preached his first sermon at age 17, is finishing his Biblical and Theological Studies degree by long-distance with Boyce College in Louisville, Ky., with the aspiration to become a pastor.
The Hometeam Tour featuring KB and Trip Lee are provided free of charge through a partnership with the Kentucky State University Baptist Campus Ministry and Buck Run Baptist.
The concert begins at 6:30 p.m.
