House Republicans set subcommittee, statutory chairs

Posted

FRANKFORT, Ky. (KT) - Kentucky House Republican Caucus announced its members chosen to chair the eight House Budget Review Subcommittees and co-chair 10 statutory committees within the General Assembly.

“The subcommittees and statutory committees within the General Assembly are critical when it comes to vetting the budget and providing sound oversight to all areas of state government,” said Speaker-Designate David Osborne of Prospect. “I am confident that this group’s collective expertise and work ethic will lead to positive results for the commonwealth.”

Each statutory committee co-chair has a counterpart in the Senate, with each committee meeting on a monthly basis. The House Budget Review Subcommittees carefully examine each area of state government to determine how state dollars should be appropriated every two years.

“Coming off of a budget that prioritized fiscal responsibility and fully funded our obligations to the pension systems for the first time in over a decade, it is critical that we have a strong team in place to vet the Commonwealth’s various needs in preparation for the next budget,” said House Appropriations and Revenue Committee Chairman Steven Rudy of Paducah. “This group of subcommittee chairs is strong and results-oriented, and I look forward to working with each of them to produce sound results in the next budget.”
