Kentucky Baptists swarm Louisville leading up to annual meeting

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky Baptists from across the state began arriving in Louisville on Saturday for a citywide evangelistic outreach ahead of the this week’s KBC annual meeting.

Todd Gray, KBC’s evangelism team leader, said volunteers fanned out through the city on Saturday knocking on at least 1,000 doors to tell residents about Jesus and to encourage them to attend church.

Volunteers also led a Fusal Tournament and provided a free medical clinic.

On Monday afternoon, the pre-annual meeting events continue with a pastor’s conference that runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Twelve Oaks Baptist Church Pastor Brandt Lyon was chosen president-elect of the 2019 KBC Pastors’ Conference, an annual get-together of Kentucky church leaders.

Lyon will serve one year as president-elect alongside President Travis Farris, an Owensboro pastor, over the nest year before moving into the presidency in 2019.

The KBC Pastors' Conference is held each year on the day before the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s annual meeting.

The annual meeting begins shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday at Highview Baptist Church’s east campus and conclude about 5 p.m.
