FRANKFORT, Ky. – Happy 225th birthday, Kentucky.
A new website created especially for the milestone, www.ky225.com, has been launched that includes a “bucket list” of things to do across the state, along with information about Kentucky’s history.
Kentucky became the nation’s 15th state on June 1, 1792.
“Kentuckians take great pride in our state, and want to encourage them to celebrate that in 2017,” said Kentucky Tourism Commissioner Kristen Branscum. “We have compiled ideas and events statewide, to inspire participation throughout the entire year.”
The state’s year-long birthday celebration is an initiative of the Kentucky 225th Anniversary Commission, which includes state agencies, legislators, local partners and volunteers.
“We have an incredible history,” said Gov. Matt Bevin. “We are a state that makes things. We make things you drive, we make things you drink, we make things you watch, you use, you play with, you have any number of experiences with.”
